All Xmas ready and other updates..

Adric is at such a cute age.. He is constantly surprising us with new skills that he is learning..
Like this morning, he learnt to shake his head.. We were going through our usual routine of me kissing and saying bye bye to Adric before going to work.. This morning Adric was abit more emotional, so he gave me his classic 'about to cry pouty face' that looks something like this..

Always makes my heart melt to see this face..
Anyway, surprisingly he held back his tears, and started shaking his head, asking me not to go! We've been teaching him to shake n nod his head for the past month, but he doesn't wanna do it.. N just when u least expect it, he does it, just like that! Haha.. It's like my baby is growing up - learning to control his emotions n using non crying ways to communicate his thoughts!

Here's some photos from the weekend.. Was a great one after 4 days away from my baby last week (was away on work trips)..

We woke up bright and early for our morning walk/breakfast..
As usual, It was non stop action for baby during the walks..

Playing w the vending machine..

Climbing stairs..

Trying to jump into the pool..

And throwing a tantrum when we don't allow him to..

He recovers pretty fast from his tantrum, and is up and about again looking for his next mischieve..

In the afternoon, we went Ivin's (again - K loves that place) for lunch..

And then we did some shopping..
We got Adric his first Lego Duplo set! A Disney n friends one (cos it was on sale.. Hee).. But Adric doesn't seem too interested in it.. Yet.. Hee

We also managed to get all our Xmas presents! So efficient.. Thanks to the Growing Fun sale.. Hee now our Xmas tree is complete with all the presents under the tree!

Looking forward to Xmas now.. N our year end trip!!! Excited.. Keke

Adric's favorite activity with Grandpa

Adric loves birds - ever since he was a young baby, he loves looking at birds.. So whenever he cries for whatever reason, we would carry him to the window and show him birds - he would stop crying and sometimes (hopefully) he would forget y he was crying in the first place.. Hee hee

Recently, he and Grandpa developed a favorite past time, which combines 2 of Adric's favorite things - gai gai n birds.. Feed birds!

Whenever we mention the 2 words 'feed bird', Adric would simulate the action of throwing food with his hand - to show us how he feeds birds.. So funny..

Every morning when we are at Grandpa/grandma's place, Adric would start asking (by asking I mean screaming) Grandpa to bring him for gai gai.. So they would bring a piece of bread, n go downstairs to look for birds..

This is Adric and grandpa in the lift on the way down with their plastic bag of bird food..

On one of the mornings, i tagged along on their bird feeding trip, I realized that Adric only feed half of the bread that he brings down to the birds, the other half, he feeds himself! So he was actually having a picnic w the birds! Haha!

Updates on Adric

Woah, it's been almost a month since my last post... been busy, lots happened - some good, some not so good... but since I told myself I will only post good happy memories on this blog, I will not dwell on the not too happy... so here's some happy updates on Adric..

Adric did not win the PS Baby star contest, but we realized that he was selected top 30 finalists out of 500+ babies.. that's top 6%! haha... so it's considered a happy event! Adric baby, well done! You are doing a great job growing into a charming and cheerful little boy... you bring so much joy to everyone... everybody loves you!

Adric is starting to show some of his character, he is active, determined, playful and loves interacting with people! Last weekend, during Shichida class, Adric got bored in class (as he always does, he is the only baby in class who walks around the classroom the most, and refuse to sit on his chair for more than 5 mins), so he started playing peek-a-boo with the teacher, while she was conducting the class! He stood behind the table, and poped his head out and smiled at the teacher... the teacher couldnt help but started laughing.. so cute..

Here are some pictures of Adric interacting with the panda mascots at River Safari... he loves them! We couldnt get a good shot of Adric cos he was too busy playing and touching the 'pandas'.. hee

We also started letting Adric eat by himself - he loves it.. and he is quite good at it.. at 14 months, he can already eat quite comfortably with a spoon.. getting about 70% of the food into his mouth.. the other 30% lands on the floor or on himself.. some land on mummy too! hee
The bowl in the photo is an amazing invention - it has a non slip base, and a curved interior, very good for learning to eat with a spoon! We bought it at Mothercare - cannot really remember the brand now.. another sign of my deteriorating memory.. hee

Last week, I had my first significant Awww moment with Adric... I was giving him his favourite biscuit as an after dinner snack - he loves the biscuit so much that he would cry like it's the end of the world when u take it away from him... So, after he ate some of the biscuits, I told him, 'Adric, this is the last one ok?' and I closed the lid of the biscuit bottle. So he took the last biscuit, looked at it, ate half of it, and guess what he did? He fed the other half to me! He was willing to share his last favourite biscuit with his beloved mummy! *Heart melt*

Baby star!!

Wow, didnt know blogging ould be quite addictive haha.. this is already my 4th post within a week!Considering I have never had the habit of writing, this is a total surprise to me!
Anyway, I've lots to catch up on happenings of the last 13 months, but today, I thought I'll post on something in the present..

Today I received a happy email! Baby was shortlisted for the finals of PS baby star contest! yay!
It was a surprise to us cos I thought we didnt get a good smiling shot of baby at the auditions last weekend!

The first shot was a fantastic shot of baby smiling (something like the photo below which was taken from the audience by grandpa).. but, blur mummy forgot to stick the number tag on baby, so photo was not counted I think..

After that, baby was too engrossed in playing with the toys on the mat, that he totally had no time to smile, or to look up at the camera!

And at the end of the 2 mins (the amount of time we had to make our babies smile for the camera..), baby was still so engrossed in playing with the toys that he didnt want to leave the stage..

Anyway, Im sooo happy baby got shortlisted for the finals! Even if we dont win anything, I think it'll be fun!

Perth!

Adric loves travelling... see..

He climbed into my luggage while i was packing for a work trip..

In order to keep him happy, we had no choice but to bring him on more holidays... hee hee..
Ok that's not true.. truth is, his mummy is a holiday addict...

So, when Adric was 7 months old, Daddy, mummy, Grandpa and Grandma brought Adric to Perth! Yes, that's the number of adults needed to 'handle' Adric on a trip... haha

The second time around, the flight was less stressful cos we knew what to do if Adric started screaming.. I just have to breastfeed him (breastfeeding is the answer to screaming for any and every reason by the way..) To our delight, Adric was quite an angel on the plane... even allowing daddy and mummy to enjoy a meal together quite leisurely...

In Perth, Adric had his first feel of the sand and sea under his feet!

He didnt seem to like it alot though..

We stayed at this really beautiful resort - Evedon Park Bush Resort.. which is about 2-3 hour's drive from Perth.. Our balcany was just beside this beautiful lake..

K and I even managed to squeeze in a romantic canoe session on the lake - all thanks to Grandpa and Grandma taking care of Adric..

Next stop was Margaret River... it was vineyard hopping time..

No wine for you yet baby... you have to wait 18 more years..

Failed artistic shot... hee

Perth was really beautiful... definitely a place to go back again!

First twelve months

Month 1 : Basically whole of Adric's first month was spent at home (confinement) - 50% of the time, he wants to drink milk (yes, mummy spent half her time feeding this hungry little baby!), 40% of the time, he is sleeping, 5% crying (this % shot up dramatically in the next month!) and 5% others - like tummy time on Daddy (shown in the photo above)..

Month 2 : We started bringing Adric out, we started off with not so crowded places (like Starbucks at Valley point) so daddy and mummy can get used to the stares from people when baby screams in public!

Month 3 : Adric was sleeping much less now, and we need more entertainment to keep him occupied (and stop him from crying..) ... so we brought him swimming! He loves it.. sometimes, depending on who is the aunty putting him into the tub..

Month 4 : We brought Adric to Hong Kong (See my previous post..) I love this photo of him with the beanie, sleeping in the baby carrier..

Month 5 : Adric was starting to get more and more amused by the world around him... sometimes he will burst into a laughing fit if we say something that he thinks is funny... like 'open it' or 'ping pong biang'.. they are just random words, but they amuse the hell out of my little baby... hee

Month 6 : At 5 months plus, we started giving baby solids.. this boy loves his food! (like daddy... hee) He would scream and cry like it's the end of the world when his bowl is empty and his feeder walks away.. so funny

Month 7 : We brought Adric on another trip.. to Perth! (See my next post).. Love how Adric has that cheeky look in the photo..

Month 8 : We brought Adric on a road trip to Cameron Highlands.. love the scenery and the weather! and we survived an 8 hour drive in the car with baby (with some help of course haha)!
Month 9 : We started bringing Adric swimming in the real pool... he loves water! He would 'pat' the water for a long long time and be entertained by it.. and everytime he sees a cup of water, he is sure to put his hand in, and splash the water all over the place..

Month 10 : Adric loves gai gai - and he loves pointing out things to us when we are out... he especially loves buses and trucks.. and everytime he sees one, he points and goes 'Oooooo'...

Month 11 : We went travelling again! this time to Phuket... and we confirmed that Adric doesnt like the sand on the beach (so unlike mummy..), but he loves the water! He spent lots of time playing in the hotel pool, even the other hotel guests know him as the baby who loves water!

Month 12 : Slightly before his first birthday, Adric decided he is a big boy now, so he's gonna walk like a big boy! On his own! Hee hee

First post, first trip!

This is my first post - ever. I have never blogged before, nor kept a diary. I am not even the kind who would update my Facebook status - I'm quite a private person. But I want to document our lives before I start forgetting a lot of stuff.. Things are happening so fast after the birth of Adric, I can't believe he is 13 months old already! Did I enter a time machine? Anyway.. A quick summary of Adric's first year..

This is our little bundle of joy.. he was a hefty 3.7 kg at birth! I had to go through 18 hours of induction plus a c section.. (Son, when u read this in future, pls give mummy a hug now!) hee.. He totally looks like daddy.

More pictures of Adric baby...

Before the end of the 2nd month, he slowly became our cute and scary little monster! He had colic and was crying non stop, esp at night when mummy is most tired and sleepy... there was once he cried for 4 hours straight, and mummy and Grandpa had to bring him to hospital (Daddy was conveniently away on an overseas trip... =P).. when we reached the hospital, Adric immediately stopped crying and fell asleep... so the doctor gave me a "must be a new inexperienced parent" look... It's only colic..

When he was 4 months old, K and I brought Adric on his first ever overseas trip! to Hong Kong! Everyone was giving me the "huh, are you crazy? bring a 4 month old crying baby to Hong Kong in winter??" response, but I had to have a holiday before I ended my maternity leave.. so off we went!

People were right, it was a crazy idea - it was a totally different kind of holiday.. if you are travelling with a 4 month old baby, expect no shopping (right, absolutely no shopping) and dinners in the hotel room (and cold ones, cos you have to bounce baby to sleep before you can sit down and eat). K and I will have takeaway dinners in the hotel room after baby is asleep, and chat in whispers, careful not to wake the little monster... Also, I had to master the art of breastfeeding with a nursing cover in public (cos baby has no patience for looking for a nursing room..), and it is a challenge when you are in the middle of Kowloon park in winter.. haha

With that said, it was still one of the happiest and most memorable holidays...

This is turning out to be a really long first post! Lots to catch up... will continue on the next post.. hee
